Vanuatu - Entry 3!

Day Four - In the morning we headed off on a tour to Ekasup Cultural Village. It was really interesting and we learnt a lot.

As we walked into the village we were met by tribe members jumping from the bushes with very scary looks on their faces . Most people were jumping back but Will was laughing and calling out "Hello" to them all. Thankfully the chief held a palm frond which means peace and we were invited to enter.

We were given a hibiscus flower and were told that if married you wear it on the right side, if single then on the left.

Here we are learning how to preserve bananas for 6 months in the event of a cyclone. I'm guessing no-one from Innisfail has been on this tour?

Harrison and Will enjoyed learning about the humane traps and hunting tips. Harrison has plans to build one in our garden at home.

We learnt how to open a coconut correctly and enjoyed eating it afterwards!

We tasted traditionally cooked vegetables and fruit which was yummy. I think Mummy is very grateful she has an oven though as this way of cooking looked rather time consuming!

Some great music and dancing finished the tour of nicely. Harrison also purchased a sharks tooth necklace which I am sure he will be happy to show you.

Back to Le Lagon for lunch..a nice BBQ by the pool was in order.

Harry wolfed down his hot dog then raced off to the kids club to do a scavenger hunt and play cricket. Will stuck around to entertain the resort guests by insisting on swimming (eating/walking/sitting) naked.

That night after Daddy took us kids to the kids club for dinner, Harry stuck around there for a bonfire and sing along while the little boys went back to the room with Sarah to go to bed. The "big people" went off to Le Meridien Resort for a Melanesian Feast. It started with some Kava (local alcoholic drink which even they admit is drunk for the effect and not the taste!) tasting from coconut shells. Since Mummy had tasted it previosuly she offerred to photograph the tasting instead!

I guess the Kava is rather strong... either that or the wrong two guests had a wedding two days earlier.

The Melon Mist was a favourite with Auntie Kita - this one was particularly potent though!

Mummy enjoyed the Mai Thai and after dinner everyone tried their luck in the casino. The pokies were unforgiving, the BlackJack table was kinder, the Roulette wheel was very friendly indeed! 6 is still Mummy's lucky number.

Vanuatu - Entry 2!

Day Three - Daddy and Uncle Roche went off on a Deep Sea Fishing Trip and caught lots of great fish. They caught lots of Tuna and even hooked some Marlin. At last Daddy has caught a bigger fish than Mummy!

Harry went off to the kids club and they went on an excursion to the Secret Garden where he got to hold lots of animals including snakes (as you can imagine, he was ecstatic!) Will and Sam had fun around the resort with Sarah and Mummy and Auntie Kita relaxed by the pool and beach (yes more cocktails!).

That night the grown ups went on the ferry across to Erakor Island for a beatiful dinner overlooking the water. The boys had dinner at the kids club and then Harry played M & M bingo while the other boys went with Sarah to get ready for bed.

Another fantastic day!

Vanuatu - Entry Number One!

Day One - We left Brisbane airport in the morning where it was a cool 8C. We were good boys on the plane - Will and Sam had a little bit of trouble with their ears descending. When we landed in Port Vila, Vanuatu it was a beautiful warm day - 28C and we all threw our jumpers in our bags with glee. We headed off to our resort and Harrison was fascinated with the fact that we were driving on the "wrong" side of the road. Will was more fascinated by the fact that he didn't have to wear a seatbelt! We arrived at Le Lagon and settled in, had dinner and then Harrison spent the first of many happy hours with the kids club while Will and Sam got acquainted with Sarah the babysitter. Mummy, Daddy, Auntie Kita and Uncle Roche escaped for some relaxation in the lobby bar.

Sam wanted to try a lime wedge so Mummy and Auntie Kita were forced to buy their first (of many!)cocktails.
Day Two - We headed into town today to explore and buy some souveniers. Mummy and harry used the public toilet at a cost of 50c each. If you want paper - thats an extra 50c! Then we headed back to the resort to have lunch at the pool and then get ready for Mummy and Daddy's wedding vow renewal ceremony.

We were escorted from our room all through the resort and down to the beach by a beautiful local band.

Auntie Kita and Uncle Roche were the "Paparazzi" dashing in and out of bushes to get us these lovely pictures and video.

Mummy and Daddy wrote their own vows - we thought it was rather mushy so played with our shell leis instead.

10 years in the making - our beautiful family.

It was really special having Auntie Kita and Uncle Roche there to witness our happy day.

Sam was VERY popular amongst all the locals.

Auntie Kita and Uncle Roche looking gorgeous! They brought a bottle of vintage Moet along to celebrate the event and by the look of the adults faces it tasted REALLY good. In fact Mummy and Auntie Kita have decided they should celebrate with it much more often!

The grown ups had a lovely wedding dinner in the Wild Ginger Restaurant while we had dinner at the kids club and then were looked after by our babysitter Sarah.

The evening finished with a bang - Daddy and Uncle Roche serenaded Mummy and Auntie Kita with a very unique version of "I've got you Babe" .

The Science Centre

All my bugging paid off...Mummy took me to the Science Centre...we had a great time!!

Meet my new friend Chuck...

This is my new friend...my guinea pig. His name is Chuck and he is 8 weeks old. He is very cute and likes carrots a lot!

Mummy - you have been seriously holding out on me! Why didn't you tell me how good food was going to taste?

Some things a park must have...

Something to hang on is always a must,

And for Will, a truck there must be.

A bridge is fun and great to climb,

"Harry...wait for me!"




There should be a slide that you can go down really fast,

if there's two, you and your brother can have a race!

All that playing can really wear you out,

So for a drink and a snack there should be a cool place!

But most of all what you will need to have a really great time,

is someone to play with who knows how to have fun.

And a big or little Brother...

is just the one!
