Some of the features of Phuket…
Hi tech communications system – cabling everywhere is like this!
Some of local architecture. Funny how you will get a really nice looking building and then next door will be a tin shack!
EVERYONE rides scooters (rain or shine), including a family of 5 at times. Sometimes the driver will have a helmet but the other riders don’t. Babies go along sound asleep in their mother’s arms. There are no road rules and pedestrian crossings are purely decorations. One thing we really liked was that the red lights have timers on them so you know exactly how many seconds before they will turn green.
Patong Beach – view from the bar at our hotel.
The “weekend markets”. This is where we got our best bargains, it’s cheaper than the market stalls aimed at tourists along Patong and is where the locals shop. Well worth the taxi ride.
A scooter can even be a travelling restaurant… we didn’t risk eating from these especially after we saw one where the salad was dished up onto the plate with the vendor’s bare hands!
Tuk Tuk’s everywhere!
Phuket boasts 4 different McDonalds!
Inside Jungceylon, a huge shopping centre that has a coffee club and a hog’s breath cafe LOL.
The local soccer club – games are played in rain and mud and grass is not necessary on the field. The World Cup was HUGE over there and we enjoyed watching all the games on huge screens wherever we went.
The local night club.
We had a massage everyday (it was so cheap and so fantastic!) and this was our favourite massage place (Sovrana) – highly recommend it!
I don’t think our garbage collectors would be happy about this but at least there is a bin, many of the shop vendors just throw plastic bags of rubbish in the gutter for collection.
Harry’s Restaurant.
World Cup Coke can…smaller than ours 300ml.
A Thai bride and groom.
The cocktail bus :)
The “fish spa”, loads of tiny sucker fish that suck off all the dead and dry skin!
One of the gemologists at the huge gem factory that made my beautiful ring (anniversary pressie from Brad) below.
Spoilt! 14K gold, emeralds and diamonds – I LOVE it!
No Cooking!!!!
One of the best things about our trip was that there was no cooking, no dishes and no little people interrupting our meals! We had some gorgeous meals in some beautiful restaurants…
Lunch at the pool bar and grill at our hotel.
A gorgeous restaurant called 3 Spices.
Brad’s dessert at La Piazza.
Our anniversary dinner started with a bottle of Rose Moet that we picked up duty free and drank on our room balcony.
Dinner was at a gorgeous placed called Da Maurizio – sensational food and location right over the water on the rocks.
This dessert was to die for!
Buffet dinner in the jungle after our elephant safari.
I couldn’t stop laughing – of all the people there this cat took a shine to Brad and would not get off his lap. Brad was really impressed, he “loves”cats!
Another really nice restaurant called “The Bistro”.
Dinner at the Golden Kinnaree restaurant at “Fantasea” was amazing – a huge elaborate buffet restaurant that seats 3000 people and serves every dish imaginable.
Don’t go to Phuket without visiting Fantasea!!
Check out the size of the tiger prawns at this restaurant!! Brad was in heaven…scroll down to see them cooked.
My favourite cocktail – Phuket Breeze.
Gorgeous Dinner at La Flora (while watching Germany V Argentina).
