The Bunny has been!

Two very excited boys (and one none the wiser) went to bed early on Easter Saturday. Mummy reminded us over and over about how chocolate eggs are NOT what Easter is all about and we sort of believe her but they sure are a nice bonus!

Harry lay dreaming of giant chocolate eggs...

Will lay dreaming of some nut free treats!

and Sam - well he just lay dreaming of getting something that would be ALL his and not taken away by one of his brothers!

Harry woke to find he had some goodies in his basket and a letter of thanks from the Easter Bunny for the present he had left him (a whole ton of boxes labelled red eggs, green, eggs, patterned eggs etc for the Bunny to sort out his stash).

Will was happy to see that nut free chockies do exist.

and Sam...well he wasn't sure what was going on but he was just as happy.

After searching the house plenty more eggs (and beautifully wrapped $1 coins- thanks Nannie and Grandad) were found and they were emptied on to the table to be sorted out equally.

How's this for an Easter grin?

These eggs all look yummy but I'll try the spoon first!

Yep, we are all very happy with the months supply of chocolate we now have.

Harry starts the taste testing off and gives egg number one the thumbs up.

Will agrees.

Sam takes his with a side of hot cross bun and milk.

Nan, Nicole and Auntie Lauren joined us for morning tea and enjoyed some yummy Hot Cross Buns too.

Happy Birthday Barry!

Easter Sunday also happened to be Barry the Guinea Pigs Birthday. It has been 4 months since we adopted him from the RSPCA when he was 8 months old.

Barry (and Snowy too) loves his fresh fruit and vegies and for his Birthday Harrison decided to make them into a very special arrangement.

We all sang Happy Birthday and Harrison presnetd Barry with a present paid for with his very own money - an igloo.

Here's Barry enjoying some watermelon.

Here's Snowy choosing a grape tomato.

After that it was time for a huge candle!! Will had fun getting it all ready and Daddy kept the hose handy.

Barry found it a little hard to blow out!

Sam's Smile...

Priceless

Twenty ways to have fun at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary

  1. Take a notepad and make a list of EVERY animal you see. I did this and had 67 animals on my list when we left.

2. Look confident so when you get close to a Black Breasted Buzzard they arent tempted to pick your bones.

3. When asked to volunteer some help in one of the shows find out what you have to do FIRST. I had to feed a dead mouse to a Tawny Frog Mouth!

4. Find a Shingleback lizard to hold. They are really cool because the way they protect themsleves from predators is to have a face that looks identical to their butt. I think that's pretty clever (and funny).

5. No visit to a wildlife centre would be complete without holding a snake.

6. Go on a train ride.

7. Throw a stick into a stream and watch it float.

8. Try to catch it as it goes under the bridge.

9. If you don't find it...throw your arms up in dismay.

10. Get up close to a Kangaroo that has a Joey - so cute!

11. Rest when you get tired!

12. Compare your length to that of a freshwater croc. My Mum dared me to do this with the real saltwater croc and then looked alarmed as I set off to do so!

13. Make time to play on Wild Island - it's really cool!

14. Climb on this pretend croc then send a pic to some overseas rellies who won't know the difference!

15. Go for a really fast ride on the flying fox so that the only pic your Mum can get is a blurry one!

16. Play hard but always remember to watch out for spiders!

17. Try out all the slides.

18. Hunt for fossils.

19. Cuddle a cute and furry possum.

20. Last but not least - get the life squished out of you by a huge python!

All the ingredients for a perfect Day!

Dippy and Fluffy

Harrison's class has been learning all about farms this term and part of the theme has involved looking after two very cute ducklings in the classroom. Their names are Dippy and Fluffy.
Harrison (with Daddy's help) proudly made this ramp for them to use in their enclosure.

Will has really been enjoying taking Harrison to and from his classroom so that he can see the ducklings.

Aren't they cute?

Anyone Hungry?

I could probably rustle up a salad...
